Anything
that assists the use of tactical gear can be considered tactical weapon
accessories. A weapon is useless until it reaches the hands of a trained
professional, which is the real weapon. Small items can often improve
the function of tactical gear, knee and elbow pads provide a huge amount
of protection as well as comfort when combat is involved, allowing an
officer to remain in the field longer than normally.
Gloves are one of the most important tactical weapon accessories. Hands
need to be protected from many dangers in tactical situations including
barbed wire and other sharp objects. A good pair of gloves will keep
hands dry, free from sweat and warm. They ensure that there is a tactile
grip for the weapon or other objects that are used such as battering
rams where a strong grip is essential. Most have a cut off trigger finger,
or less padding for that finger so trigger feeling is not lost.
Some other tactical weapon accessories are breaching items, such as
crowbars and battering rams. They are used to gain entry into buildings
and homes where mission objectives are located. Surveillance gear such
as night vision goggles or thermal vision goggles are useful for gathering
information on the enemy at night and preparing a plan of attack.
