We
see forensic photographers on shows like CSI or Law & Order as background
characters, but recording a crime scene is an invaluable service for
officers for future investigation. Like any professional, a forensic
photographer must own the proper police photo equipment.
What is some basic police photo equipment?
• Normal lens
• Wide angle lens
• Close-up lenses or accessories
• Filters
• Electronic flash(s)
• Remote or sync cord for electronic flash(s)
Besides possessing basic police photo equipment, a forensic photographer
must have a solid grounding of police methods. Contrary to most photographers’
goals, forensic photography must not appeal to emotions in case they
are used in a court-setting.
